SPECTRE - 2015 - Poster and Trailer

Finally SPECTRE are back!

When Casino Royale hit the screen in 2006 I was expecting SPECTRE
to be the evil organisation behind all the schemes, I was disappointed.
Now it has built up to a point where it is actually more exciting they're back!

A cryptic message from Bond's past sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organization. While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind SPECTRE.

When a few people saw the poster they thought of Steve McQueen from Bullittthen I think this, although Daniel Craig does have that McQueen look about him, is a reference to Live and Let Die.

Focus 2015 - Adrian Martinez Interview

We had the chance this week to catch up with Adrian Martinez who is one of the biggest character actors around!
He has worked with pretty much everyone in Hollywood and is a great guy with a real love for making films that are passion projects.
He goes in front and behind the camera.

Myself and Bam Sam just had a chat....

Adrian Martinez is an actor, writer, producer, and soon-to-be-director, with over eighty film and TV credits.

Adrian's career began as a high school track star on NBC's "Unsolved Mysteries". Some in casting have called Adrian, "the sidekick to the stars," as evidenced by his recent sidekick trifecta-- Will Smith's sidekick in Warner Bros' "Focus," in theaters 2015, Ben Stiller's sidekick in Stiller's Fox remake of "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty," Will Ferrell's sidekick in Lionsgate's "Casa de mi Padre," and Zach Galifianakis' sidekick in Focus features' "It's Kind of a Funny Story" to name a few.

Of the over eighty film and TV projects Adrian has been involved in, some of his favorites include, "It's Kind of a Funny Story," opposite Zach Galifianakis, "Casa de mi Padre," opposite Will Ferrell, and "Mail Order Wife," a mockumentary, where his lead portrayal was so convincing, audiences thought the film was a DOCumentary.

Adrian has been seen in a wide range of character portrayals including Jim Sheridan's "In America," opposite Katie Holmes in "Pieces of April," "The Interpreter," opposite Nicole Kidman, opposite Jimmy Fallon in "Taxi," and "Mona," which he also co-produced. "Mona" has aired several times on PBS' Indie night.

Mr. Martinez's TV work includes over forty guest spots, including a recurring guest star in CBS' "A Gifted Man," opposite Patrick Wilson, FX's upcoming season of "louie" opposite Louis CK, HBO's "Flight of the Conchords," "Sex and the City," and Comedy Central's "Inside Amy Schumer," "Three Strikes," produced by Jon Stewart, and "Deadbeat" produced by Brad Pitt.

Theater audiences know Mr. Martinez from his daring off-Broadway performances in Jose Rivera's "Massacre," for Rattlestick theater, "Our Lady of 121st Street," at the Union Square theater, and "The Last Days Of Judas Iscariot," at the Public theater, both directed by Oscar winner Philip Seymour Hoffman, and written by Tony nominee, Stephen Adly Guirgis for the LAByrinth theater company, of which Adrian has been a member since 2003.

Mr. Martinez is a long time collaborator of Obie winner, and Oscar nominee, Jose Rivera, "The Motorcycle diaries, "having done productions and readings with Jose in New York, Atlanta (Alliance), Chicago (Goodman), and Los Angeles.

 “THE X-FILES” RETURNS TO FOX

Emmy Award-winning Pop Culture Phenomenon
From Chris Carter Is Back as Six-Episode Event Series

David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson to Reprise Their Roles as
FBI Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully

Thirteen years after the original series run, FOX has ordered the next mind-bending chapter of THE X-FILES, a thrilling, six-episode event series which will be helmed by creator/executive producer Chris Carter with stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson re-inhabiting their roles as iconic FBI Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully. This marks the momentous return of the Emmy- and Golden Globe Award-winning pop culture phenomenon, which remains one of the longest-running sci-fi series in network television history.

The announcement was made today by Dana Walden and Gary Newman, Chairmen and CEOs of Fox Television Group and Chris Carter, creator and executive producer of THE X-FILES. Production on THE X-FILES event series is set to begin in summer 2015. Further details remain under wraps and will be announced at a later date.

“I think of it as a 13-year commercial break,” said Carter. “The good news is the world has only gotten that much stranger, a perfect time to tell these six stories.”

“We had the privilege of working with Chris on all nine seasons of THE X-FILES – one of the most rewarding creative experiences of our careers – and we couldn’t be more excited to explore that incredible world with him again,” remarked Newman and Walden. “THE X-FILES was not only a seminal show for both the studio and the network, it was a worldwide phenomenon that shaped pop culture – yet remained a true gem for the legions of fans who embraced it from the beginning. Few shows on television have drawn such dedicated fans as THE X-FILES, and we’re ecstatic to give them the next thrilling chapter of Mulder and Scully they’ve been waiting for.”

THE X-FILES originally premiered in September 1993.  Over the course of its nine-season run, the influential series went from breakout sci-fi favorite to massive global hit, and became one of the most successful television dramas of all time. The show, which earned 16 Emmy Awards, five Golden Globes and a Peabody Award, follows FBI special agents Scully (Anderson) and Mulder (Duchovny) as they investigate unexplained cases – “X-Files” – for which the only answers involve paranormal phenomena.

Produced by 20th Century Fox Television and Ten Thirteen Productions, THE X-FILES is created and executive-produced by Chris Carter.

Disney's "Tomorrowland" to be released as "Tomorrowland: A World Beyond" in the UK

Every now and then when a movie is released in the UK, The studio behind that movie feels the need to change the name slightly to avoid confusion with other properties. In recent years we have had The Avengers renamed "Avengers: Assemble" to avoid confusion with the 1960's TV Series "The Avengers". Yes, that's right...We Brits may confuse a TV show 99.9% of us have never seen or heard of with one of the most Anticipated, biggest franchises of all time.

This week Disney announced that their big summer adventure flick will be released as "Tomorrowland: A World Beyond" in the UK.

Now I do usually find these re-naming of Movies annoying, if not insulting at times (Fast Five being renamed Fast & Furious 5, really? Like we had never heard of the series and couldn't make the link?) but with Tomorrowland I can Understand where Disney are coming from.

Tomorrowland is inspired by the popular Disneyland area "Tomorrowland", Just visiting the area in the parks you can see the concepts and feel of the future. But in Disneyland Paris the Tomorrowland area of the park is actually named "Discoveryland". The reason for this could be that it possibly translates better than Tomorrowland in to the different European languages, and the vast majority of UK viewers have more than likely been to Disneyland Paris than one of the US parks.

Tomorrowland: A World Beyond lands in UK Cinemas on May 22nd, as as one of my Top 3 films for 2015 I can not wait!

Check out the trailer below and details of the Film.

From Disney comes two-time Oscar® winner Brad Bird’s riveting, mystery adventure “Tomorrowland - A World Beyond,” starring Academy Award® winner George Clooney. Bound by a shared destiny, former boy-genius Frank (Clooney), jaded by disillusionment, and Casey (Britt Robertson), a bright, optimistic teen bursting with scientific curiosity, embark on a danger-filled mission to unearth the secrets of an enigmatic place somewhere in time and space known only as “Tomorrowland.” What they must do there changes the world—and them—forever.

Featuring a screenplay by “Lost” writer and co-creator Damon Lindelof and Brad Bird, from a story by Lindelof & Bird & Jeff Jensen, “Tomorrowland - A World Beyond” promises to take audiences on a thrill ride of nonstop adventures through new dimensions that have only been dreamed of.

The film also stars Hugh Laurie as brilliant scientist David Nix, Raffey Cassidy, Tim McGraw, Judy Greer, Kathryn Hahn, Keegan-Michael Key and Thomas Robinson.

“Tomorrowland - A World Beyond” is produced by Damon Lindelof, Brad Bird and Jeffrey Chernov and directed by Brad Bird, with John Walker, Brigham Taylor, Jeff Jensen and Bernard Bellew serving as executive producers. “Tomorrowland - A World Beyond” comes to UK cinemas May 22nd 2015.

PIXELS (2015) - Retro Gaming Fights Back

Coming to UK theatres August 12th 2015

I love and collect retro video games, or as I call them video games, as to me they are not retro, they are just my games!
Pixels has a similar premise to that episode of Futurama, where by classic video game characters invade Earth.
This is from SONY, and it is looking like a "What if the Ghostbusters had to fight 8-bit sprites instead of spirits!" kind of deal.

"In Pixels, when intergalactic aliens misinterpret video-feeds of classic arcade games as a declaration of war against them, they attack the Earth, using the games as models for their various assaults. President Will Cooper (Kevin James) has to call on his childhood best friend, '80s video game champion Sam Brenner (Adam Sandler), now a home theater installer, to lead a team of old-school arcaders (Peter Dinklage and Josh Gad) to defeat the aliens and save the planet. Joining them is Lt. Col. Violet Van Patten (Michelle Monaghan), a specialist supplying the arcaders with unique weapons to fight the aliens." - Sony Pictures Entertainment

Strangeness In Space - UK Sci-Fi Kickstarter

What would happen if Sophie, the manager of a NASA Space Centre gift shop, and Trev and Simon, two idiots claiming to be a 1980s styled synth pop duo called Pink Custard, were thrown together with a stressy computer robot called LEMON on board a damaged space craft, lost in a distant universe, orbiting Planet Mirth?

To keep things running on board the space ship and everything else, Trev and Simon and Sophie rely on their talking robot computer LEMON (Linguistically Enhanced Mobile Operations Network). Unfortunately for them LEMON is not your average super intelligent space computer robot. LEMON is over worked, over emotional, and very stressy in fact, a bit of a lemon really.

So what is this "strangeness" all about then?
We found out from one of the main people involved Clare Eden.

Strangeness in Space
"Sophie Aldred, the seventh Doctor's companion Ace, is heading back into Space - this time not with Sylvester McCoy but with comedy duo Trev and Simon who entertained us for so many years in BBC TV's Going Live and Live & Kicking. AlongsideClare Eden, producer of the award winning podcast series The Minister of Chance, the team will be bringing you Strangeness in Space, a sci-fi comedy podcast series for kids aged 8 to 80, and beyond....

The series is also written by Trev & Simon: " we loved that parents
seemed to enjoy our humour as much as their kids on Saturday morning telly and we intend to bring the same sense of family fun to this". The audio series will be free to download, financed by a crowd-funding campaign starting on 24th March. "On Minister of Chance we literally started with just an idea but no commissioning budget" said Clare Eden , "and we ended up with a worldwide fanbase financing an entire first season through crowdfunding; winning a Parsec Award and being nominated for a BBC Audio Award along the way! It's a wonderful way for an audience to have a sense of ownership on something they enjoy". The foursome met at University studying Drama in Manchester. "50 years ago in March Alexei Leonov took the first ever walk in Space" said Sophie " I find it hilarious that I am now heading off to Space for adventures
with Trev and Simon!" - Clare Eden

All our best wishes to the man who has brought so much joy to our lives and his family!

"Santa Monica, California (CNN)Actor Harrison Ford was seriously injured Thursday after crash-landing a small plane on a golf course in California, Variety and NBC News reported.

Los Angeles Fire Department Assistant Chief Patrick Butler, who wouldn't name the patient, said the pilot suffered moderate trauma and was "alert and conscious" when he taken to the hospital.

The plane hit a tree as it landed, officials said. It landed on its belly with the left wing touching the ground. There is a mark in the ground behind the plane where the aircraft sliced into the grass.

The 72-year-old actor was in a two-seat 1940s-era military trainer that went down on Penmar Golf Course near Santa Monica Airport, according to reports." - CNN
