MCM Comic Con London 2015 - The Death of Superman Lives; What Happened?

Is it a bird? Is it a Plane? No it's finally the documentary I have been waiting for!

THE DEATH OF "SUPERMAN LIVES"; WHAT HAPPENED?

The Death of Superman Lives; What Happened? delves into one of Hollywood's most enthralling 'what could have been' stories. In 1996, Warner Brothers engaged Kevin Smith to write the screenplay ('Superman Lives'). Director Tim Burton assembled an elite group of artists to work on Superman Lives, including Nicolas Cage as Superman. Warner Brothers scrapped the project shortly before principal photography began.

This documentary directed by Jon Schnepp features interviews with director Tim Burton; legendary producers Jon Peters and Lorenzo di Bonaventura; screenwriters Kevin Smith, Wesley Strick, and Dan Gilroy; production designer Rick Heinrichs; special effects artist Steve Johnson; storyboard artist Tim Burgard; costume designer Colleen Atwood, and many more. This film delivers an inside look into what would have been the most original, unexpected and cosmic Superman movie ever made.

Starring Tim Burton, Kevin Smith, Jon Peters, Dan Gilroy, Derek Frey, Jon Schnepp, Steve Johnson, Wesley Strick, Sylvain Despretz, and many more...
Written and Directed by Jon Schnepp and Produced by Jon Schnepp & Holly Payne.

The Death of "Superman Lives"; What Happened? screens at MCM Comic Con at ExCel London Q&As on evening of 22nd & 23rd May and on VOD from 9th July.

From TV screen to Silver Screen: Top TV Transfers

With Spooks hitting our screens from TV to cinema with Spooks: The Greater Good (out 8th May), the TV spin-off movie deserves some scrutiny. Series from Twin Peaks to Maverick have made the leap – not always in their favour – but with Downton Abbey just announced as getting the silver screen treatment we thought we’d look at our top TV to movie theatre hits.

  1. The Man from U.N.C.L.E.
You may know that Henry Cavill is coming in Guy Ritchie’s The Man from U.N.C.L.E. this summer, but ‘sixties super spies Napoleon Solo and Illya Kuryakin have long set mums’ hearts a flame. While the original Solo Robert Vaughn was last seen in Hustle and Coronation Street, David McCallum (Kuryakin) stays true to his crime fighting roots as a medical examiner in NCIS. Just watch out for U.N.C.L.E.’s enemy organisation, T.H.R.U.S.H. – the Technological Hierarchy for the Removal of Undesirables and the Subjugation of Humanity.

  1. Charlie’s Angels
In a film that feels like a series of music videos stapled together it’s hard to know if the film is a feminist ploy or a teenage dream. Either way you are guaranteed glitz, female bonding, and a discussion about Demi Moore’s alleged plastic surgery.

  1. Sex and the City
It’s a shame that a series which renewed so many concepts of female independence then created a film where a woman’s happy ending was to rely on a man for validation and dye her hair the wrong shade of brown. If you’re going to mope around about a chap at least look chic while it’s happening. Let’s not talk about the sequel.

  1. The Inbetweeners
So well-loved are the incredibly British reprobates that audiences could barely wait to see what school leavers Will, Simon, Jay and Neil would do on the lash in Malia. The sequel sees them take a gap year trip to Australia, and will put you off water theme parks for life. Look out for Divergent’s Theo James as Carli’s new boy toy in the first movie.

  1. The X-Files
It often feels like the place where mainstream nerdery began. The ‘nineties saw school files peppered with pictures of Mulder and Scully so a spin-off film (or two) was inevitable. Scully (Gillian Anderson) the sensible voice of reason versus Mulder’s (David Duchovny) impassioned if slightly crazy belief that aliens were out there, somewhere. The actors and creator Chris Carter have said they are talking about reuniting for new episodes this summer– it’s out there, somewhere.

  1. The Muppets
The Muppets have been everywhere through the medium of film. Their happy little series hatched in the ‘seventies has had adventures in space, Manhattan, at Christmas, on an island, and finally they got the reboot they so needed in 2011 with Jason Segel and Nicholas Stoller’s beautifully paced The Muppets film, helped along by Flight of the Concord’s Bret McKenzie’s musical skills. Anyone remember the Dracula musical puppet show at the end of Forgetting Sarah Marshall? Seems like this was the job Jason Segal was born to do.

  1. Star Trek
It’s hard to think of a greater cult space franchise. In fact the eternal Trekkie versus Star Wars feud is what keeps film blogs in business to be honest. Star Trek’s humble three season beginnings with wonky doors and polo necks spawned a dynasty of interstellar adventures. We’ll have to wait until next year for more movie madness, though rumours are afoot of Idris Elba stepping into the frame. Can anyone better the Cumberbatch from 2013’s Into Darkness? Make it So.

  1. The Simpsons
It took them long enough but The Simpsons team finally made a film from the beloved series in 2007. The script was rewritten over a hundred times to create a pleasantly environmental story starkly similar to Stephen King’s Under the Dome series. Ultimately it’s all about the heart of Springfield and its community – aww… just look out for Spiderpig!

  1. 21 Jump Street
Johnny Depp had to come from somewhere, and indeed his teen idol status was cemented by this police procedural ‘eighties TV series. But it was the comedic U-turn in tone of Channing Tatum and Jonah Hills’ reboot film in 2012 that led to the property being a viable franchise. We’ve since had 22 Jump Street and potentially another sequel and a Men in Black crossover. As you do.

  1. Ali G Indahouse
Ali G (short for Allegory) spun out of Channel 4’s The 11 O’clock Show into his own comedy show in 2000. A parody of DJ Tim Westwood and various posing suburban, privileged kids, he was the self-proclaimed “voice of da yoof”. Sacha Baron Cohen announced he has retired the character (along with Borat). Such was the stain on Staines from Ali G’s fictitious existence that they changed the town’s name to Staines-upon-Thames.

Jared Leto as The New Joker First Look - Suicide Squad - 2016

Wait till they get a load of me! And here we go....!!!

For everything this incarnation of The Joker has going for it...there's something...erm...I don't know, just...I don't know...

Let's think, well this has that Killing Joke look, which is a fan favourite...maybe staying so close to a certain source sometimes doesn't quite work out? I mean it may work perfectly on the 2D pages of a graphic novel...but that doesn't mean it will translate well into live action?

The Joker is one of the most iconic characters in history...not just comic book history...I mean all time history, even including olde time history, and yes even the boring kind about crop rotation in the 17th Century.

I will admit, yeah he looks friggin out of his mind...but, and this is only based on this one brightly lit picture, he looks like a reject from a 2000's Nu-Goth Metal band...a Marilyn Manson sidekick.

This is a far cry from when fans gasped at their first look at Heath Ledger, another actor no one wanted in the role, as The Joker.
Only time will tell!

A secret government agency run by Amanda Waller, named A.R.G.U.S creates a task force comprised of super villains. They call it: the Suicide Squad because sometimes... they don't come back. They are assigned to execute dangerous tasks in exchange for shorter prison sentences.

The Enfield Haunting - Sky Living

This is something amazing for me!
I grew up on Greenwood Ave (in a house not on the actual road...duh) just a road and a playing field away from the street...Green Street...this house was on!
This was a serious national news story back in 1977, but it was more serious to us on a local level!

I was only a kid, being born in 1981, when I was told the stories, but my family remembered the press coverage well; and my bastard Dad would play pranks on me!

I have watched numerous documentaries on this case and have always been fascinated by it, mostly because it was so close to home!

The Enfield Haunting is broadcast on 3rd of May at 9pm on Sky Living.

Batman v Superman - 2016 New Posters

I am shattered!
Jurassic World, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Batman v Superman!!!
I can't take all this fanboying!!!
I'm getting to old for this shit!

Jurassic World - 2015 Latest Trailer We Have a T-Rex!!!

Here she is!
The fans have been quietly praying for this moment for sometime!
As fans of Jurassic Park we have been pretty pleased with what we have seen so far from Colin Trevorrow and Universal...however there was just one little thing missing....
We get our first glimpse (very brief, but she's there and we know what that will mean) of everyone's favourite!

The Mutha Fudging T-Rex!!!

Ok so in my excitement I got carried away...but just knowing Rexy is there, and ready to throw down gave me goose bumps!
I know we knew the Rex was an attraction but by god just seeing a glimpse of her followed by all that action is enough to make any fanboy, who was there, harken back to 1993!

I remember having the trading cards which described each scene depicted on the back.
I remember sitting there in that little cinema on Jersey and covering my eyes, just knowing that Muldoon was about to get torn to shreds!
How much I would see...I did not know...yet the thrill of anticipation just got to me and I didn't fully see the attack scene without fingers blocking some of it till VHS!

Now today we get the epic trailer for Jurassic World and I for one am having the same reaction as back then!
I believe Dinosaurs are real! And they are totally pissed off!

The the lines "think this will scare the kids?" and "this will give the parents nightmares"
are less dialogue and more a marketing statement at this point!
It would appear that we have a true no holds barred family adventure that will scare and thrill in equal measures!

Batman v Superman - Dawn of Justice Official Trailer

The trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens was screened live via YouTube at the Star Wars Celebration giving fans their first glimpse at the return of Han and Chewie; this fanboygasim moment went onto dominated the internet.
DC and WB had teased the release of their trailer's IMAX premier on Monday, however shortly after the Star Wars trailer hit the net so did a leaked version of Batman v Superman's trailer; filmed on a smart phone, at what appeared to be a press screening in a foreign market?

With the premier of Avengers: Age of Ultron being the big story, for but a few days, movie fans turned their attention away from Marvel's summer blockbuster and remembered the true franchise to rule them all STAR WARS!!!
The timing of the release of the Force Awakens trailer seemed to overshadow the Avengers sequel, which hits theatres in the UK on May 1st, Disney appeared to have cock block themselves.
However it was a genius master stroke of marketing!

Yes Star Wars has detracted from the hype surrounding the return of the the Avengers, yet it has virtually neutralised the impact of the Dawn of Justice trailer!
In fact not only has it nullified DC's attempt to overshadow the release of Age of Ultron, the tone and style of the Star Wars trailer has left fans enthralled by the notion of a lighter, fun, action adventure and they seem very much opposed, it would appear, to seeing another dark, gloomy screen outing for beloved characters, as presented by Warner.
Add to this mix the fact that Universal are dropping the latest trailer for their entry into the franchise wars, Jurassic World on Monday, it would appear that DC had been completely double teamed!

The leaked trailer has taken the "wow" factor out of the Dawn of Justice trailer, rather than the grand "here it is" accompanied by a Han Zimmer bwwwaaaammm, we now have an official release in HD via Warner's official YouTube channel, not because they wanted to, but because they had no choice.
I feel it is a real shame.
This movie has been controversial with fans since casting announcements were made; the internet lost its shit over Batffleck!!!
Yet it deserved a grander first look.

So now it is officially here, with less of a bang and more of a whimper, what do I think?
Well....I love it!
Just as fans are sick of dark interpretations being the "thing to do" in recent years, I want the next 18 months of films to deliver a mixed bag.
I want light and quirky, tense and gripping, funny and smart, and dark and angst ridden in equal measures.
Oh and the real loser in all of this is the Terminator re-boot, prequel, alternate timeline disaster; that trailer was one of the worst pieces of movie promotional material in movie history.

Lando - Star Wars Marvel Team Up

Some sweet news coming from Marvel.com today.

"Marvel.com: Why Lando Calrissian as the next character from the Star Wars galaxy to get some spotlight through Marvel?
Charles Soule: We actually spent a bunch of time talking about the next character to focus on, and Lando rose to the top of the list very quickly. I mean, based on what we see in the films, he seems to have a fascinating backstory—history with Han, he used to own the Millennium Falcon, etc.—but we never see any of it. He just appeared in an episode of “Rebels,” but beyond that, he’s really unexplored.
Another thing I like about him is that he gets a hero’s journey of his own in the movies. When we first see him in “The Empire Strikes Back,” he’s not exactly a shining knight. He sells his friends out to the Empire. Now, it’s all somewhat understandable, and he does his best to make things right, but still. He’s no Luke Skywalker.
But by the end of “Return of the Jedi,” he’s put all that behind him. He’s finally picked a side, and ends up destroying the second Death Star. I could also have skipped all that explanation and given you a two-word answer that would have been equally true: Lando’s cool." - marvel.com

Aside from this I would love to see Billy Dee back as Lando in the new movies!

As the villainous Ultron emerges, it is up to The Avengers to stop him from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for a global adventure."- Written by Marvel Studios

Watch the first "Scream" TV Series Trailer

Last night at the MTV Movie Awards we were treated to the debut trailer of MTV's "Scream" TV Series; the long awaited small screen follow up to 1996's smash hit horror and its 3 sequels.

Although "Scream" the TV series is not a direct follow on from the movies, nor does it feature Ghostface, or Sidney & the gang; it will be set in the same universe and promises to bring the same wit and scares as Wes Craven's slasher favourite.

"Scream" will feature a whole new cast but will see Scream alumni Wes Craven. Kathy Conrad & Marianne Maddalena act as Producers on the series.

"Scream" the TV Series debuts June 30th on MTV and stars Bella Thorn, Willa Fitzgerald, Bex Taylor-Klaus & Amadeus Serafini.

Check the trailer below

Ant-Man - 2015 Epic Sized Trailer First Look

The film that everyone thought would be the first nail in Marvel's coffin comes to the big screen this summer.
With the endless hits being churned out by the comic book giant and Disney's collaboration, sooner or later they would have a Green Lantern on their hands?
Some even said that last summers Guardians of the Galaxy would be the adaptation too far for this movie universe juggernaut.
Well that proved to be one of the greatest summer movies of all time, not just of 2014.

So as soon as Ant-Man began going through its production drama, it was written off.
The reaction to the film's initial trailer was kind of so-so, many calling it an Iron Man clone or a dated origin flick that has now come too late to the MCU party.
I didn't think much of it either.

Now the proper trailer is online and I for one am so there opening weekend!

The miniaturising premise has been fulling explored, from the looks of it, to deliver some truly unique and exciting visuals.
The one on one emphasis of Ant-Man vs Yellow Jacket hopefully will deliver more thrills than watching another superhero flick where our protagonists fight off against a faceless CGI swarm of no name baddies.
The action looks top draw and the comedy, from what we see in the trailer, has that Guardians sense of humour.

  • Armed with a super-suit with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang must embrace his inner hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.

Terminator Genisys - 2015 Trailer First Look

Warning spoiler alert!
Only watch this trailer if you want to know too much about the plot!

Great I think the studio needed a spoiler alert on their own trailer?!!!
 They've blown their load already!
It would be like **spoiler alert** opening The Empire Strikes Back Trailer with Vader telling Luke he is his father!!!
I know there are certain things that are obviously going to happen in summer movies, ie Jurassic World hardly spoils the plot by showing dinos on the rampage, but this twist should have been left to opening weekend!

"In 2029, John Connor, leader of the Resistance, continues the war against the machines. At the Los Angeles offensive, John's fears of the unknown future begin to emerge when John is notified by his army unit, Tech-Com, that Skynet will attack him from two fronts, past and future, and will ultimately change warfare forever.
On the verge of winning the war against Skynet, Connor sends his trusted lieutenant Kyle Reese back through time to save his mother's life and ensure his own existence. However, Kyle finds the original past changed. After being orphaned at age nine by a T-800, sent to kill her when she was young to prevent the future in which Skynet is defeated, Sarah Connor has been brought up by another Terminator T-800 programmed to protect her. This Terminator has then trained her to face her destiny, which she adamantly tries to reject.
Now, Kyle and Sarah with the help of the old ally Terminator, have to escape the T-800 and the recent T-1000 sent by Skynet to kill them, as well as John Connor who has been converted into a human/cyborg hybrid. Together they must find a way to stop Judgment Day from ever happening"
